Career Development Day For Library And Information Assistants [Event Ref. No. TG1/CDD]
This day is aimed at those who are looking to progress in their career or change direction and will reflect on the current trends in the market place and the future role of the Librarian.
In particular the focus will be on the changing roles of information professionals, thinking creatively about opportunities and skills as well as how to progress in the current economic climate.
The session will comprise of a variety of speakers talking about their own experiences as well as practical tips and exercises to prepare participants for applying for roles. In addition, there will be advice on progressing in existing roles (including information about the CILIP Qualifications Framework) and examples from our speakers about how they have done this.

11.20am: Case Study – Librarian, Helen Williamson, Horniman Museum
11.40am: Tea break
11.55am: Case Study (Current Masters Student)- Subject Librarian, David Pearson, SOAS
12.20pm: How is CILIP adapting to current trends – Michael Martin, Adviser for Qualifications and Professional Development of CILIP
12.45pm: Lunch
1.45pm: (including tea at 3.15pm) Current trends in the market place – How to prepare/market yourself/What jobs are available? Including practical exercises, Donald Lickley, Sue Hill Recruitment
