Access To Libraries: Supporting Dyslexic Users [Event Ref. No. TG2/DYSX]

This workshop aims to raise awareness of dyslexia and the challenges experienced by dyslexic students and researchers in higher education.

A clinical psychologist and learning support consultant will share their professional experiences of understanding and supporting dyslexic adults through the student learning processes. These insights will be then applied to how staff in research libraries and teaching environments can further help this intelligent yet often misunderstood user group maximise their potential.

Outline Programme:

15.00 – 15.30: Dyslexia and educational kinesiology: introduction and exercises by Eleanor May

15.30 – 16.00: Tea/Coffee break

16.00 – 16.45: Dyslexia, structuring creative thinking and the theory of constraints (TOC) in education by Eleanor May

16.45 – 17.00: Question and answer session: application to libraries and research, by Beverley, Eleanor and Paul Allchin
