Exchange of Experience: Supporting Systematic Review Demand in Health & Beyond [TG2/Sys-reviews]

When

04/12/2024
11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Type

This is part of a series of online events for M25 Consortium members, aiming to provide a safe and supportive space for staff to meet and share issues and experiences of library work.

Join us for an open discussion group covering the themes around supporting growing demand for systematic reviews in areas outside of health and medicine. Erin Bloxsidge, Giada Zanella and Kathryn Devine will discuss the creation of a Community of Practice to help address the challenges in supporting students and researchers with these projects and what approaches they are taking at their own institutions to meet this demand.

We hope this session will provide an opportunity for colleagues across the sector to talk with each other about what types of support they offer, how they are upskilling to meet growing demand, and approaches they have tried while improving their service. We’re particularly keen to hear from those who provide support outside of health and medicine, with varied disciplines like Education, Hospitality & Tourism and Business offering their own unique challenges.

Join us for an informal sharing of ideas and experiences with supportive colleagues from a variety of library backgrounds. The session will run for an hour, using Zoom. Moderators will be present to help collate ideas which can be shared with allparticipants.

Moderators:

Erin Bloxsidge: (she/her) is the Faculty Librarian for Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey. In addition to faculty liaison and collection development, she provides research skills support to academic staff and PhD students, including guidance on systematic search approaches for evidence syntheses. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has recently completed the Medical Library Association’s Systematic Review Service Specialisation (SRSS) Level 1.

Giada Zanella (she/her): is the Library Information Specialist for the Health and Life Sciences College at Aston University, Birmingham. Giada delivers information literacy skills group sessions and individual tutorials to undergraduate students, postgraduates and researchers. She also provides CPD training to academic staff. A significant portion of her work is focussed on supporting students and staff with evidence synthesis methodologies, including systematic and scoping reviews.
